25/06/2020 (Agence Europe) – The Republic of Guinea will benefit from a debt service moratorium until 31 December 2020, the Paris Club announced on Wednesday 24 June. This country, one of the poorest in the world, was deemed eligible for the Debt Service Suspension Initiative (DSSI), also approved by the G20 in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic. The Government of the Republic of Guinea has committed to devoting the resources freed up by this initiative to increasing expenditure in order to mitigate the health, economic and social impact of the Covid-19 crisis. It also committed to request from all other bilateral official creditors a debt service treatment in line with the roadmap. (AN)
