15/06/2020 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 15 June, the EU Council approved the EU's 2019 annual report on human rights and global democracy. This 142-page report details EU actions at a multilateral level, as well as those on specific issues such as civil society, freedom of expression, or equality. It also highlights the different EU instruments and the role of the EU Special Representative for Human Rights. The year 2019 included the final phase of the implementation of the EU Action Plan for Human Rights and Democracy (2015-2019) as well as a political agreement on a regime for comprehensive EU human rights sanctions (see EUROPE 12471/27). However, this framework has still not been created. To view the annual report: https://bit.ly/2N1OIKu (CG)
