25/05/2020 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 25 May, the Council of the EU definitively adopted the proposal for an EU Council Regulation temporarily extending the period for convening general meetings of ‘European Companies’ (SE) and ‘European Cooperative Societies’ (SCE) during the Covid-19 pandemic (see EUROPE 12478/7). The text, adopted unanimously by written procedure (see EUROPE 12491/37), allows SEs and SCEs to hold their general meetings within 12 months after the end of their financial year, instead of 6 months, but no later than 31 December 2020. For its part, the European Parliament approved the text on 14 May under the urgency procedure (see EUROPE 12487/17). (MF)
