20/05/2020 (Agence Europe) – The Member States’ Ambassadors to the EU (Coreper) gave the green light on Wednesday 20 May to the use of the written procedure (see EUROPE 12483/8) for the adoption of the proposal for an EU Council Regulation temporarily extending the period for convening general meetings of ‘European companies’ (SE) and ‘European Cooperative Societies’ (SCE) during the Covid-19 pandemic (see EUROPE 12478/7). The text allows SEs and SCEs to hold their general meetings within 12 months of the end of their financial year, instead of within 6 months, but no later than 31 December 2020. For its part, the European Parliament approved the text on 14 May under the urgency procedure (see EUROPE 12487/17). The written procedure in the EU Council must be completed by noon on 25 May. (MF)
