20/05/2020 (Agence Europe) – Members of the European Parliament's Committee on Civil Liberties (LIBE) will, in the end, not vote on the draft resolution on the state of the Schengen free movement zone, as initially envisaged (see EUROPE 12489/13), on 25 May. As a number of amendments were made to the resolution by Juan Fernando López Aguilar (S&D, Spain), it was decided to postpone this deadline. The vote could therefore take place on 4 June, explains a European Parliament source. The Parliament’s opinion criticises Member States for the uncoordinated reintroduction of internal border controls. The current phase of lifting certain measures is no more harmonious with countries such as France calling for more coordination between Member States while some of them, like Italy, are also announcing the opening of their borders unilaterally.
