Member States give green light to conclusions on revision of Administrative Cooperation Directive

20/05/2020 (Agence Europe) – The Member States' Ambassadors to the EU (Coreper) endorsed draft EU Council conclusions on Wednesday 20 May regarding "the future development of administrative cooperation in the field of taxation in the EU" (see EUROPE 12488/23). The draft text sets out Member States' expectations for the proposal for a Directive ('DAC 7') amending the 2011 Directive on administrative cooperation that the Commission is expected to present in July (see EUROPE 12440/20) to facilitate the exchange of data held by digital platforms directly with tax authorities. The EU Council text rightly emphasises the need to take account of the fiscal challenges arising from these new business models. The formal adoption of the text will be carried out by written procedure. (MF)
