14/05/2020 (Agence Europe) – At its plenary session on Wednesday 13 May, MEPs voted in favour of using the urgency procedure - provided for in Rule 163 of the Rules of Procedure of the European Parliament - to adopt four immediate measures to support transport companies (see EUROPE 12477/5). On Thursday 14 May, Member States’ ambassadors to the EU (Coreper) also agreed to use a written procedure to adopt these measures aimed at “reducing the regulatory burden and costs for business” in the sector. On the Parliament side, on Friday 15 May, Members will be asked to vote on the content of the measures in question. On the EU Council side, a position was adopted as early as last week, paving the way for negotiations between the two institutions (see EUROPE 12483/6). (AC)
