The European Commission concluded on Tuesday 12 May that the 52.5 million euros compensation granted by the Netherlands to the Hemweg coal-fired power plant for its early closure is “in line with EU State Aid rules”. The measure will contribute to the reduction of CO2 emissions without unduly distorting competition in the EU’s Single Market.
