08/05/2020 (Agence Europe) – EU-OSHA Executive Director Christa Sedlatschek was not expressing irritation when she explained to MEPs in the European Parliament’s Employment and Social Affairs Committee on Thursday 7 May that her agency had not been consulted by a group of national experts in the European Commission during the process of classifying the Covid-19 disease as a group 3 biological agent (see EUROPE 12482/5) because there is no provision for her Agency to be consulted by this group of experts. EU-OSHA provides scientific and practical information to the European Commission’s DG Employment, she told EUROPE. “We are always aware of OSH (Occupational Safety and Health) related activities and negotiations at the EC Community level, and our expert in the area of biological agents works in close collaboration with unit B3 in Luxembourg”, she said.
