23/04/2020 (Agence Europe) – Representatives of European and international airport infrastructure managers issued a statement on Wednesday 22 April to the EU Heads of State and Government, who met this Thursday by videoconference. In this declaration, initiated by the Airports Council International (ACI), the 23 signatories called on governments to show solidarity and to ensure that all Member States have access to the funds that will be needed to help them relaunch. They also called on leaders to do their utmost to ensure that the European Commission's initiatives on 'green lanes' and the free movement of workers (see EUROPE 12452/14, 12457/9) “are implemented to ensure it delivers on the ground without delay”, thus also ensuring the functioning of the single market. For European airports, ACI estimates that losses stand at 873 million passengers and €23 billion less revenue for 2020. (AC)
