23/04/2020 (Agence Europe) – Following in the footsteps of Poland and Denmark, it is France's turn to announce that it will not grant economic aid for dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic to companies based in, or with subsidiaries in, tax havens. “It goes without saying that, if a company has its tax headquarters or subsidiaries in a tax haven, and I want to say this in the strongest terms, it will not be able to benefit from State treasury aid” said the French Finance Minister, Bruno Le Maire, to France Info on Thursday 23 April. The minister had already announced that companies who had received economic assistance from the government would not be able to pay out dividends or buy back shares. (MF)
