Monday 6 April

  • Brussels. Council of the EU. Meeting of Justice Ministers (videoconference). - Exchange of views on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on EU judicial systems and possibilities of coordination to maintain judicial cooperation: - changes in the working methods of judicial bodies and the legal professions; - difficulties for cross-border cooperation; - suspension of enforcement and insolvency proceedings; - procedural rights in criminal proceedings; - situation in prisons and sentence structure (confinement and danger of contagion). - Exchange of views on penalties for violation of restrictions imposed as a result of the outbreak and the possibility of introducing new criminal offences. - Possible further measures in the field of justice in the context of the pandemic.
  • Brussels. Council of the EU. Foreign Ministers' Meeting (videoconference). *Defence: Exchange of views on the military implications of the COVID-19 crisis; - Update on the assistance provided by the armed forces at the national level to deal with the COVID-19 crisis. - Discussion on the impact of the pandemic on EU missions and operations in non-Member States under the Common Security and Defence Policy.

Tuesday 7 April

  • Brussels. Council of the EU. Meeting of the Eurogroup (videoconference). - Discussion on the ‘CRII 2’ proposals to strengthen the political and economic response to COVID-19, following the mandate of the Heads of State or Government.
  • Brussels. Council of the EU. Meeting of Research Ministers (videoconference). - Exchange of views on possible research and innovation policy developments and measures to address the crisis related to the COVID-19 pandemic and its short, medium and long term effects, in cooperation with other EU policies.
  • Brussels. European Parliament. Committee activities (as at 09/04). - PECH: examination of measures proposed by the Commission to help the aquaculture and fisheries sectors deal with the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Wednesday 8 April

  • Brussels. Council of the EU. Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (videoconference). *Development: - Exchange of views on intensifying international cooperation to assist developing countries in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic.
