20/03/2020 (Agence Europe) – The European Association of Service Providers for Persons with Disabilities (EASPD) welcomes the initiatives announced by the European Commission to address the consequences of COVID-19, but is concerned about the lack of provisions for the social care and social assistance sector, in a statement issued on Thursday 19 March. The continuity of funding makes the operating conditions of these services difficult and leads to many day centres, residential, rehabilitation and other support centres being forced to close, the association explains. The association therefore asks the Commission to take due account of the specific nature of their services. The association had already sent a letter to the European Commission on 11 March.
