03/03/2020 (Agence Europe) – Forty-three MEPs have signed an open letter to the rapporteur for rail passenger regulations, MEP Boguslaw Liberadzski (S&D, Poland), asking him not to reverse the European Parliament's position on pre-notification for assistance for people with reduced mobility (amendment 101 on Article 24, paragraph 1, point (a)) before the EU Council. “While not ideal, it is a step forward in our commitment to fully implement the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and in ensuring the free movement of 100 million persons with disabilities living in Europe”, reads the MEPs' letter. The next interinstitutional meeting will be held on 18 March (see EUROPE 12434/8). (PH)
