24/02/2020 (Agence Europe) – Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced, on Saturday February 22, an ‘Istanbul’ format summit with French President Emmanuel Macron, Russian President Vladimir Putin and German Chancellor Angela Merkel, on March 5, to discuss the situation in Syria. He had spoken by telephone on 20 February with Mr Macron and Mrs Merkel (see EUROPE B12431A2). The two European leaders had stressed their wish to see such a meeting organised. (CG)
