'black' list of uncooperative jurisdictions should include some EU Member States, according to Tadeusz Kościński

17/02/2020 (Agence Europe)The EU should start including low-tax member states in its 'blacklist' of non-cooperative jurisdictions, said Polish Finance Minister Tadeusz Kościński on Monday 17 February at an event organised by Bruegel in Brussels. These comments, reported by the Bloomberg newspaper, come as the European Finance Ministers are preparing to revise the European 'black' list (see EUROPE 12426/6) on Tuesday 18 February. The suggestion is not new and is often taken up by civil society. In a statement issued on Monday, Oxfam said that if the EU applied the same criteria to its own Member States, five countries would be blacklisted, namely: Cyprus, Malta, Ireland, Luxembourg and the Netherlands. (MF)
