28/01/2020 (Agence Europe) – The representatives of the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union recalled their respective positions on the proposal for the revision of Regulation (1371/2007) on rail passengers' rights and obligations on Tuesday 28 January at a first round of interinstitutional negotiations ('trilogues'). According to information gathered by EUROPE, discussions were relatively short and uncontroversial during this launch trilogue. The co-legislators also agreed to schedule at least one technical meeting before the next political trilogues are held. These will be held on 18 February, mid-March and mid-April. They are likely to focus on the scope of the Regulation, on the conditions for carrying bicycles on trains, on the conditions and level of compensation in the event of cancellation or delay and on assistance to disabled persons and persons with reduced mobility (see EUROPE 12398/8).
