28/01/2020 (Agence Europe) – 102 non-governmental organisations, including Seas At Risk, BirdLife Europe, ClientEarth, Oceana, Surfrider Foundation Europe and WWF, published on Monday 27 January a catalogue of measures to be put in place by 2030 to “turn the tide on the ever-degraded and polluted ocean and coastlines”. This ‘Blue Manifesto’ notably calls for at least 30% of the ocean to be highly or fully protected by 2030, a shift to ‘low-impact’ fishing, a pollution-free ocean and the planning of human activities to support the restoration of marine ecosystems. NGOs call on the European Commission to put the ocean at the heart of the strategies resulting from the European Green Deal. Link to document: http://bit.ly/2tagHl6 (LC)
