18/12/2019 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 18 December, the European Parliament approved a regulation extending the current rules on flexibility between the pillars of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) until the end of 2021. The more politically sensitive regulation—which would ensure that the current rules on granting support to EU farmers can continue after 2019 even if the new Multiannual Framework (MFF) and CAP reform are still not approved—has yet to be approved (see EUROPE 12378/9). The endorsed text extends the 2015-2019 rules on flexibility between CAP pillars, i.e. moving money from national envelopes for rural development to the direct payments one. (LC)
