12/12/2019 (Agence Europe) – As predicted (see EUROPE 12373/10), the European Parliament has decided to cancel the interinstitutional meeting with the EU Council, initially scheduled for Wednesday 11 December, on the Regulation establishing a Single Market Programme. Parliament prefers to wait for the progress of the negotiations on the Multiannual Financial Framework 2021-2027 before making any progress in the negotiations on the legislative text. Indeed, the European Parliament has strengthened the European Commission's proposal and has added a budget line dedicated to market surveillance to control product safety and fight counterfeiting (see EUROPE 12177/16).
