12/12/2019 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday, 11 December, the ambassadors of the Member States meeting at the Political and Security Committee (PSC) appointed German diplomat Christoph Buik as head of the European Union Advisory Mission in Iraq (EUAM Iraq). He will replace his compatriot Markus Ritter, who has held the position since the mission was launched in October 2017, on 1 January. Buik is currently Director of the United Nations Standing Police Capacity. The mission’s mandate, the aim of which is to help Iraq reform its security services, runs until 17 April 2020 (see EUROPE 12117/21). (CG)
