04/12/2019 (Agence Europe) – As Member States' Energy Ministers met on Wednesday 4 December to discuss their National Energy/Climate Plans (NECPs) (see other news), COGEN Europe, the European Association for the Promotion of Cogeneration, took the opportunity to call on Member States and the European Commission to “ take further action in order to be more efficient with our energy resources”. The organisation regrets that, despite the potential of energy efficiency to reduce carbon emissions, a significant gap remains between Member States' ambitions in this area and the European target of a 32.5% improvement in energy efficiency by 2030. Therefore, COGEN Europe recommends in particular that Member States clarify their contribution to the 2030 energy efficiency target on the basis of clear policy measures.
