29/11/2019 (Agence Europe) – Swedish diplomat Lars-Gunnar Wigemark has been appointed Head of the EU Civil Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX Kosovo), the EU Council announced on 29 November. Mr Wigemark will take up his duties on 1 December and his term of office will run until 14 June 2020, the end date of the mission's mandate (see EUROPE 12373/7). In this position, “he will be in charge of ensuring EU support to relevant rule of law institutions in Kosovo on their path towards increased effectiveness, sustainability, multi-ethnicity and accountability, free from political interference and in full compliance with EU best practices”, the EU Council said in its statement. Mr Wigemark was previously Head of the EU Delegation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, EU Special Representative in that country and Head of the European Delegation in Pakistan. (CG)
