20/11/2019 (Agence Europe) – During the evening of Tuesday, 19 November, the spokesperson for the European External Action Service welcomed the return the previous day of Prime Minister Muin Abdel Malik to Aden, Yemen’s interim capital. “This constitutes an essential first step in implementing the Riyadh Agreement signed between the Government of Yemen and the Southern Transitional Council” on 5 November, she said (see EUROPE 12364/19), describing the Government's presence in Yemen as a “key development”. According to the spokesperson, the EU expects all stakeholders to abide by the terms of the Agreement and display sincere collaboration on the ground to ensure its smooth and timely implementation. She added that full implementation of the agreement should pave the way towards a comprehensive political agreement to end the conflict, under the auspices of the UN. (CG)
