Twitter rebukes British Conservative Party

20/11/2019 (Agence Europe)The social network Twitter warned that it would take “corrective” measures if it were to face another change in certified profile information that would “mislead people”. This warning came in the aftermath of the political debate between the Leader of the Opposition, Labour’s Jeremy Corbyn and Conservative Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Tuesday 19 November in the United Kingdom. A debate during which the press service of the Conservative Party's campaign headquarters renamed its Twitter CCHQ Press office account into “FactcheckUK” to comment on the Labour leader’s statements and relay those of the Conservative leader. According to Will Moy, Chief Executive of the independent fact-checking association Full Fact, interviewed on BBC Radio 4, the press service's account did not publish accurate information, but instead published the party lines.
