Bringing together more than 200 companies and research organisations active in the battery sector, the general meeting of Batteries Europe, the research and innovation arm of the European Battery Alliance, elected its first Board of Directors on Tuesday 22 October in Brussels.
Composed of nine people from eight different Member States (France, Sweden, Germany, Spain, Finland, Belgium, Italy and Austria), this board will be chaired by Michael Lippert, Director of the Energy Innovation and Solutions Division at Saft, a battery manufacturer.
Opening the event, the Director General of the European Commission’s Energy Department, Ditte Juul Jørgensen, highlighted Batteries Europe’s role in implementing a “strong battery research and innovation strategy along the value chain”, as well as in “encouraging cooperation between many battery research and innovation initiatives at EU, Member State and company level”.
