25/10/2019 (Agence Europe) – On Friday, 25 October, the European Commission reaffirmed that the fourth round of trilateral negotiations (between Russia, EU and Ukraine) on the transit of Russian gas to Europe via Ukrainian territory will take place in Brussels on 28 October, as announced by EUROPE (see EUROPE 12342/27). Discussions will focus on the following issues: how to reflect EU energy rules in the framework agreement, the appropriate length of the contract, the volumes needed, and tariffs. While he said he wanted to build on “the constructive spirit of the previous discussions”, Maroš Šefčovič, the European Vice-President for Energy, will hold bilateral discussions with the Ukrainian and Russian delegations ahead of the trilateral meeting. The CEOs of the Ukrainian and Russian gas companies, Naftogaz and Gazprom, will also attend. EUROPE will continue to follow this story. (DG)
