The European Commission announced on Wednesday 9 October its decision to impose a definitive anti-dumping duty on imports of mixtures of urea and ammonium nitrate (UAN) originating in Russia, Trinidad and Tobago and the United States.
The duty amounts to between 20% and 31.9% for Russia, 16.2% for Trinidad and Tobago and 23.9% for the United States.
The Commission determined that these anti-dumping duties would not be contrary to the interests of the EU as a whole, with UAN accounting for less than about 1% of total farm costs in the Union and 10% of total specialised farm costs.
“A price increase resulting from the measures, if any, should therefore not have a significant impact on the agricultural sector in the Union as a whole”, the Commission stressed in its Regulation.
Last April, a six-month provisional anti-dumping duty was imposed on imports of mixtures of urea and ammonium nitrate originating in Russia (ranging from 31.9 to 34%), Trinidad and Tobago (16.3%) and the United States (22.6%).
