Members of the European Parliament's Committee on Regional Development (REGI) gave the green light on Wednesday 2 October to several mandates to launch interinstitutional negotiations (trilogues) on a package of legislative dossiers on post-2020 cohesion policy.
For this they approved (37 votes to 4) the negotiating mandate of Andrey Novakov (EPP, Bulgaria) and Constanze Krehl (S&D, Germany) to resume interinstitutional negotiations where they had stalled on the umbrella regulation on common provisions (see EUROPE 12212/15). A first inter-institutional meeting was held the following day, Thursday 3 October.
The negotiating mandate of Andrea Cozzolino (S&D, Italy) on the Regulation establishing the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the Cohesion Fund (CF) (37 votes in favour, 3 abstentions), the mandate of Pascal Arimont (EPP, Belgium) on the Regulation on special provisions for European territorial cooperation (Interreg) (39 votes in favour) and finally the mandate of Cristian Ghinea (RE, Romania) on the Regulation establishing the cross-border mechanism (39 votes against 2) were also approved.
The timetable for the trilogues for these latter texts was not yet known at the time of writing. (Original version in French by Pascal Hansens)
