21/08/2019 (Agence Europe) – The EU Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators (ACER) published on Friday 9 August a recommendation on the implementation of the minimum 70% margin to be made available for cross-border electricity trade. These provisions are provided for in Article 16 (paragraph 8) of Regulation 2019/943 on the single market for electricity. Historically, electricity cross-border exchanges in the EU were discriminated against in comparison to intra-country trade, to the detriment of end consumers, writes ACER. The agency says it has been working for several years to promote an increase in cross-border electricity interconnection capacity. “This will imply more security of supply and better prices for citizens”.
