European Commission appoints six scientists to ERC governing body and opens public consultation on future of research and innovation programme

28/06/2019 (Agence Europe)On Friday, 26 June, the European Commission appointed six researchers to the governing body of the European Research Council (ERC), the body responsible for funding scientific research in Europe. Four professors will take up their positions at the ERC on 1 July 2019: Geneviève Almouzni (the Curie Institute in Paris), Eystein Jansen (the University of Bergen), Mercedes García-Arenal (the Institute of Languages in Madrid) and Jesper Qualmann Svejstrup (the University of Copenhagen). They will be joined on 1 January 2020 by Milena Žic Fuchs (the University of Zagreb) and Gerd Gigerenzer (the Max Planck Institute in Berlin). Margaret Buckingham, Michael Kramer and Barbara Romanowicz have had their terms renewed. In addition, there is currently a public consultation open to all contributors, the aim of which is to identify the outline of EU research and innovation within the Horizon Europe 2021-2027 framework programme.
