For Mr Hahn, EU could provide financial assistance to young people who want to start a business in their country of origin

The European Commissioner for Neighbourhood Policy, Johannes Hahn, proposed on Wednesday 22 May an EU financial assistance program to help young people from the southern Mediterranean countries to return home.

Asked about the brain drain from the southern Mediterranean countries, Mr Hahn acknowledged that EU initiatives, such as Horizon 2020 or Erasmus+, involving young people from the region could also reinforce this phenomenon.
