17/05/2019 (Agence Europe) – The Copyright Reform Directive was published in the Official Journal of the European Union on Friday 17 May under the reference 2019/790. It will enter into force on 6 June and must be transposed by all Member States by 7 June 2021. This publication in the Official Journal is occurring at the same time as the circulation of the Commission's reply to a parliamentary question from Michaela Šojdrová (EPP, Czech Republic). Her question concerned the role of the Commission and the support of European funds in developing technical solutions to avoid value gap filtering systems (Article 13, now Article 17 in the final text). In her reply, Commissioner Mariya Gabriel emphasises that the Commission plans to organise dialogues between stakeholders in order to ensure the uniform application of the obligation to cooperate. She added that no European funds are provided for this purpose. (SPj)
