Annual inflation up to 1.7% in euro area in April

The annual inflation rate was 1.7% in April in the euro area, up 0.3 percentage points from the previous month (see EUROPE B12238A31) and 0.5 percentage points from April 2018 (see EUROPE B12021A27), according to figures published by the Statistical Office of the European Union (Eurostat) on Friday 17 May. 

This increase can also be seen in the European Union, where the inflation rate reached 1.9% in April, compared with 1.6% in March this year and 1.5% in April 2018.
