13/05/2019 (Agence Europe) – In its 'Rainbow EUROPE 2019’ index, published on Monday 13 May, the European Region of the International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association (ILGA Europe) reveals not only a status quo in many European countries, but also a decline in policies that protect the equality and human rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and intersex (LGBTI) people. “For the first time in the Index’s ten-year history, countries are moving backwards as existing laws and policies disappear”, the organisation said. For example, Poland no longer provides access to medically assisted reproduction for single women. Bulgaria has removed all its administrative and legal procedures for changing name or gender marker in the official documents for trans people. Among the three most advanced Member States are Malta (90% index), Belgium (73%) and Luxembourg (70%). To consult the index: https://bit.ly/24Id79q. (PH)
