Some 20 MEDIA-supported films will be in Cannes Film Festival

13/05/2019 (Agence Europe) – Some 20 films co-financed by the MEDIA programme to support European cinema for a total amount of €1.5 million will be screened at the 72nd Cannes Film Festival and in its parallel competitions, the Directors' Fortnight and Critics' Week, the Commission said on 13 May. Six films supported by MEDIA are candidates for the Palme d'Or: Pain and Glory by Pedro Almodóvar (Spain), The Traitor by Marco Bellocchio (Italy), Le Jeune Ahmed by Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne (Belgium), Little Joe by Jessica Hausner (Austria, United Kingdom, Germany), Sorry We Missed You by Ken Loach (United Kingdom) and The Whistlers by Corneliu Porumboiu (Romania, France, Germany). Fourteen other MEDIA-supported films will be screened in various selections at the festival. The festival will take place from 14 to 25 May. (SP)
