Formal green light from EU Council to two interinstitutional agreements

09/04/2019 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday, 9 April, the Council of the European Union formally approved two interinstitutional agreements in the transport sector. The first one, reached last 20 November between the former Austrian Presidency of the EU Council and members of the European Parliament, concerns the revision of Regulation 868/2004 to fight unfair competition from third-country airlines (see EUROPE 12142/14). The second one, obtained last December, concerns the new legal framework on port reception facilities for the delivery of waste from ships (see EUROPE 12159/6). These green lights follow those of the MEPs meeting in the European Parliament plenary session in March (see EUROPE 12214/19, 12213/16) and will allow the texts to enter into force soon. (LT)
