09/04/2019 (Agence Europe) – The International Road Transport Union (IRU) reacted, in a press release of Monday 8 April, to the vote of MEPs on 4 April in European Parliament plenary session on the social and market aspects of the first ‘mobility’ package (posting of drivers, rest and driving time, tachograph, cabotage, market access) (see EUROPE 12229/1). Although the organisation does not consider the result of the vote to be perfect, it sees it as a first step to “allow discussions to move forward”. In particular, the IRU regrets that no specific rules have been adopted concerning the rest and driving time of bus and coach drivers. On the other hand, it is in favour of the driver returning to his home or to the place of his choice once every four weeks. (LT)
