27/03/2019 (Agence Europe) – The EU will increase its humanitarian aid to the most vulnerable Venezuelans by €50 million, the European Commission announced on Wednesday 27 March. “Our additional support includes emergency shelter, healthcare, food assistance, nutrition services, access to safe water and sanitation, as well as children's education”, said Christos Stylianides, Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management. “We are stepping up our assistance and aid operations in Venezuela and the region”, he said in a statement. This additional aid is in line with the EU's commitment to mobilise more resources to respond to the worsening humanitarian crisis, in line with the recommendations of the International Contact Group. Total EU assistance for the regional crisis now stands at €117.6 million since 2018. (AN)
