27/03/2019 (Agence Europe) – The European Parliament adopted the copyright reform on Tuesday 26 March (see EUROPE 12222/6). On the other hand, several corrections were made after the vote concerning the outcome of the vote itself; corrections that could have completely reversed the result. According to these changes, the oral amendment proposed by Evelyn Regner (S&D, Austria) was reportedly adopted, significantly changing the voting process. Mrs Regner proposed to vote on all amendments (including amendments to delete controversial articles on the neighbouring right for newspaper publishers or on the value gap) before putting the provisional agreement with the EU Council to a vote. In total, no fewer than ten MEPs gave their support, a posteriori, to this amendment, which was rejected by five votes. But corrections have no influence on the votes. As a result, the reform was adopted by 348 votes in favour, 274 against and 36 abstentions. (SPj)
