Monday 18 March

  • Brussels. Council of the EU. Foreign Affairs Council. - Topical international issues (commemoration of the annexation of Crimea by Russia, situation in Algeria and Venezuela, follow-up to the conference on Syria, situation in the Central African Republic). - EU-China relations (cooperation on international issues, trade issues, regional issues, cybersecurity, etc.) in preparation for the European Council (21-22/03) and the EU-China Summit (9/04). - Relations with Moldova after the 24/02 elections and the pro-Russian President's party coming to power. - Situation in Yemen and means to support the implementation of the Stockholm Agreement between the parties to the conflict.

European Parliament. 37th session of the ACP-EU Joint Assembly (as of 20/03). - Emergency resolutions on: the rule of law in the EU and ACP countries; environmental crimes. - Resolutions on reports on: the strategic dimension of the ACP-EU partnership; - renewable energy as a factor in the sustainable economic development of ACP countries; - the reduction of the total number of out-of-school youth in ACP countries. - Debates on: the impact of Brexit on the ACP-EU partnership; the compatibility of the current global economic model with climate change; - the implementation of the Global Compact on orderly and regular safe migration.
  • Brussels. European Parliament. Commission activities. - JURI: Debates on future EU-UK family law relations after Brexit; discussion with the European Commission on the outcome of the Hague Judgments Convention. - AFET-LIBE: Public hearing on the rule of law in the accession process of new Member States. - BUDG-DEVE: Commission proposal for the extension until December 2020 of the mandate of the Central African Republic Trust Fund (Bekou Fund). - TRAN: hearing on the role of inland waterways in the intermodal transport system. - AFCO: public hearing on the theme "European elections, European parties, European voters"

  • Luxembourg - EU Court of Justice - Rulings: - C-498/17 (Commission/Italy - has Italy failed to fulfil its obligations under the Landfill Directive with regard to 44 landfills?) - C-465/17 (Falck Rettungsdienste and Falck - obligation to apply public procurement rules to emergency patient transport services provided by non-profit-making organisations or associations).
