29/01/2019 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday, 29 January, MEPs on the Transport Committee approved the interinstitutional agreement reached by the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the EU and European Parliament representatives on 21 January regarding the revision of Regulation 391/2009 on ship inspection and survey in the context of Brexit (see EUROPE 12177). The purpose of this revised text is to enable inspection organisations accredited at EU level by the Commission, on the basis of an initial request from the United Kingdom, to continue their activities in the EU after Brexit. Member States’ ambassadors to the EU (Coreper) approved this agreement on Friday, 25 January (see EUROPE 12180). A formal green light from the European Parliament in plenary session and the EU Council is now required for the text to enter into force. (LT)
