21/01/2019 (Agence Europe) – The European Union has obtained "reassurance" from Colombian President Iván Duque that the recent deadly attack on the Usme Police Academy in Bogota by ELN guerrillas "is not going to have an impact or affect the implementation of the peace agreement" with the demobilised FARC guerrillas, said the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy on Monday 21 January, following the Foreign Affairs Council. Federica Mogherini, who had a phone call with the Colombian President a few days ago, condemned in the strongest possible terms the car bomb attack, which killed 20 people and ended negotiations between the Colombian government and the ELN (see EUROPE 12016). The guerrillas must release all kidnapped people, Ms Mogherini said. (MB)
