15/01/2019 (Agence Europe) – While the euro area recorded a surplus of €19 billion in international trade in goods in November 2018, compared with a surplus of €23.4 billion a year earlier, the European Union recorded a deficit of €3.2 billion on the same date, compared with a surplus of €4.9 billion in November 2017, according to figures from the EU’s Office of Statistics (Eurostat) on 15 January. Exports of goods from the euro area to the rest of the world amounted to 203 billion in November 2018, while imports from the rest of the world amounted to 184 billion. In the EU, between November 2017 and November 2018, extra-EU imports rose from 163.4 billion to 175.9 billion, an increase of 7.6%. Extra-EU exports increased by only 2.6%, from 168.4 billion to 172.7 billion. (DG – intern)
