The foundations were laid for a reform of the European pesticide authorisation procedure on Thursday 6 December in Brussels. The recommendations of the European Parliament's Special PEST Committee to increase the transparency and accountability of this procedure were adopted by a large majority (23 votes in favour, 5 against, 1 abstention). They should better serve the health and environmental objectives of Regulation 1107/2009 and guide its revision.
