15/11/2018 (Agence Europe) – Several organisations representing carriers from Central, Eastern and peripheral Europe, gathered under the banner "Stop NeoProtectionism in European Road Transport", denouncing, in a press release of 14 November, the approach taken by the Austrian Presidency of the Council of the EU in drawing up its draft compromises on the first ‘mobility’ package (see other news). For these organisations, the texts on the table "would deepen the gaps between EU Member States" and lead to "economic and social segregation". They are therefore taking a stand against cooling periods in cabotage, against the application of the rules on posting to road transport and against the obligation for the vehicle to return to the company's State of establishment.
