15/11/2018 (Agence Europe) – The Commissioner for the Internal Market and Industry, Elżbieta Bieńkowska, welcomed in a tweet on Thursday 15 November the granting of a waiver for signals from the European Galileo navigation programme by the U.S Federal Communications Commission, the US federal authority responsible for telecommunications management in the United States. "Galileo already has 400 million users globally and will now be open for US citizens and businesses", the Commissioner said with satisfaction. A source explains that this is the first time that the American authority has granted such a waiver. The Union had been negotiating with Washington on this issue since 2014. (PH)
