30/10/2018 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 30 October, European Commissioner for Neighbourhood Policy Johannes Hahn condemned "in the strongest terms the terror attack which hit Tunis" the previous day – "only three days after (his) joint visit with (European Commission) President Juncker" (see EUROPE 12126). "We stand firmly by Tunisia’s side and will continue to support it in its democratic and economic development", he said, adding that he would visit Tunisia again in two weeks' time. The EU ambassador to Tunisia, Patrice Bergamini, stated that the EU would continue "to do everything to help Tunis address the numerous challenges it faces, including the fight against terrorism". Twenty people, including fifteen police officers, were wounded in a young woman's suicide attack on Avenue Bourguiba, an important artery of the Tunisian capital. (CG)
