30/10/2018 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 25 October, the specialist website IPProPatents reported that the Staff Union European Patent Office (SUEPO) has accused the office of upholding a blocking system that occludes emails to staff from SUEPO. According to SUEPO, the blocking system was brought in during the reign of the EPO’s former president, Benoît Battistelli. Following a meeting with the EPO’s new president, António Campinos, in early September, the unions sent an email to all their members and to the president himself to give a report. However, they noted that the email never arrived with anyone. SUEPO reportedly questioned the new president on his private email account, but he apparently remained silent. "We can only conclude that Mr Campinos’s administration is not in favour of lifting the ban", SUEPO concludes, pointing out that the administration remains unchanged. (PH)
