30/10/2018 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission decided on Tuesday 30 October to close its investigation into the code-share agreement signed between Brussels Airlines and TAP Portugal in 2009 concerning the Brussels-Lisbon route. This code sharing included cooperation on ticket marketing between the two airlines. The institution had sent them a statement of objections in October 2016, fearing that this code-share had the effect, from 2009 to 2012, of restricting competition (capacity, price) on this line (see EUROPE 11656). Following its investigation, which saw the companies’ hearing in May 2017, the Commission considered that there was insufficient evidence to confirm that the code-share agreement between the airlines had indeed had the effect of restricting competition on the Brussels-Lisbon route.
